Directions

By Car
The museum is located on the A612- within easy reach from the A1, A46 and A52. A large free car park is available onsite.

When travelling from Newark direction: take the A617 towards Mansfield.  Turn left at the traffic lights which are signposted for Upton/Southwell.  Follow the road to Upton. The museum and car park entrance is situated off Main Street, signposted on the right, after the sharp bend where Hockerton Lane adjoins Main Street.

When travelling from Southwell direction on the A612, continue into the village. The museum and car park entrance is situated off Main Street, signposted on the left, around 200m beyond the Cross Keys pub (and before the sharp bend where Hockerton Lane adjoins Main Street).

By Train
The nearest mainline train stations are located in Newark on Trent, around 6 miles from Upton Village. Trains call at both Newark Northgate and Newark Castle stations. Onward travel is possible from Newark to Upton by taxi, or via limited bus services. Please plan your onward journey carefully in advance to ensure availability. Please visit the National Rail website for train services and timetables.

By Bus
A limited number of buses run through Upton. Services are operated by Stagecoach (route 29) and Travel Wright (routes 227 and 365). Please check your arrival and departure options carefully, noting that not all services run throughout each day, with some confined only to morning or afternoon travel. For up to date timetables and to plan your journey please visit the Traveline East Midlands website.

By Taxi
An internet search for Newark on Trent taxis will reveal several firms offering taxi services to and from Upton. Pre-booking is recommended to ensure availability. From Newark town centre to Upton taxi fares are likely to fall in the region of £10-£15 each way.

On Foot/ Bicycle
A roadside footpath along the A612 links with the village of Southwell about 3 miles away.

The museum will open on Fridays from 10am – 4pm, from 1st May to 30th October 2020.

Upcoming Events:

  • Upton Village fete

    The Museum of Timekeeping will be open for the Upton Village fete on Saturday the 13th of August between 2pm and 5pm. Entry fee Adults £3 children under 14 free. This is a real family fun day.
