Here you will information on how to plan and book your group tour with us
Our group tours are more than just a walk through time; they are an immersive journey into the heart of how humans have captured moments, from the sundials of ancient civilizations to the atomic precision of today’s timekeepers.
As you step into the Museum of Timekeeping with your group, you are not just entering a building; you are stepping into a timeline that stretches far and wide, offering a unique blend of history, science and art. Each exhibit, meticulously preserved and presented, is a key to understanding the epochs and inventors that have shaped our world through the ages. What makes our group tours truly special is the shared experience of discovery. Planning Your Group Tour
Tours typically last two hours and feature an introduction to the history of the British Horological Institute (BHI), the Museum of Timekeeping and the history of Upton Hall.
We then take you on a guided tour of the museum galleries on the ground floor, telling you some of the stories behind the artefacts like the original Speaking Clock featuring the ‘Girl with the Golden Voice’, Ethel Cain, who beat 9,000 applicants to become the voice of the first Speaking Clock. Other gems include William Hayward’s Japanned Longcase clock, the hands from the 150-year-old St. Pancras Station Clock, Captain Scott’s watch and the Gillett & Johnston Turret Clock Movement.
